Burn Ban Ordered for Lee County, Mississippi
On March 28, 2026, the Mississippi Forestry Commission issued a burn ban for Lee County, Mississippi, at the request of the Lee County Board of Supervisors.
Lee County Emergency Services Director Marc Flanagan said, “With dry and windy conditions, the threat of wildfires has considerably escalated. We have responded to 19 brush or grass fires in the past week, which is placing a huge burden on our volunteer firefighters, not to mention the risk and danger to property owners.”
Board of Supervisors President Barry Parker said, “We made this request at the advice of our Emergency Services Director Marc Flanagan. It is obvious with the current dry weather and strong winds that any fire could escalate quickly out of control.”
The ban is in effect until April 15.
