Emergency Checklists:

  • Where to go during a tornado:

    ALWAYS EVACUATE A MOBILE HOME

1.) Go to lowest level of home to an interior room/hallway without windows (ex: closet or bathroom)

2.) Stay away from windows and go to the center of room. Avoid corners as they tend to attract debris.

3.) Get under a sturdy piece of furniture (ex: table)

4.) Do not get in a vehicle and try to outrun the tornado.

5.) Be sure to have multiple ways to receive weather warnings (ex: NOAA Weather Radio, Local TV & Radio, Outdoor Sirens, Wireless Emergency Alerts, Weather Apps, and Social Media)

  • Questions to ask yourself when preparing your emergency plan:

1.) Which types of disasters are most likely to affect my area?

2.) How will I receive emergency alerts and warnings?

3.) What is my evacuation route?

4.) If I must evacuate, what is my shelter plan?

5.) What is my family's communication plan?

6.) Is my emergency disaster kit ready to go? (Remember to include face masks, hand sanitizer and other types of disinfectants due to COVID-19)

  • Your emergency plan should include:

1.) Names and contact information for each household family member (Include individual medical needs or information if applicable)

2.) An out-of-town contact to act as a central point of communication to help your household reconnect if separated

    3.) Insurance information

4.) Contact information for medical providers

5.) Emergency meeting place (Determine a safe place where your family can go for protection or to reunite if separated)

6.) Any other important phone numbers, which may include: school or childcare facility, veterinarian, and emergency services

  • Things to pack in your emergency kit:

1.) Use a large storage container (so all supplies are in the same place)

2.) Water - (MEMA recommends 1 gallon per day per person for 3 to 7days)

3.) Food - (enough for 3 to 7 days) (canned goods, non-perishable items)

4.) Medicines including prescriptions (complete listing and instructions for use)

5.) First Aid Kit (including bandages, antibiotic ointment, pain relievers, peroxide, rubbing alcohol, cotton swabs/balls, gloves, gauze, surgical tape)

6.) Flashlight, Batteries, Blankets, Jackets, Duct Tape, Whistle, Plastic Bags, Garbage Bags, and Hand Sanitizer
